Yamagata-grown Yukiwakemaru rice harvested in Reiwa 7 has arrived.
Product Information
Yamagata Prefecture is the birthplace of Tsuyahime rice. The prefectural government has specifically designated Tsuyahime as a strategically promoted variety, and it is cultivated according to special cultivation standards for rice, making it a highly-rated, premium rice!
The Yamagata Prefecture original new variety "Yukiwakamaru," which debuted in the autumn of 2018, is attracting a lot of attention.
It was bred by cross-pollinating "Yamagata 80" and "Yamagata 90." It possesses excellent cultivation characteristics, including resistance to lodging, high-temperature tolerance, and resistance to rice blast disease.
Its whiteness and luster when cooked are very appealing, and it is positioned as the handsome younger brother of Tsuyahime rice,
generating high expectations. Its texture is characterized by individual grains that are firm yet possess just the right amount of stickiness, a combination previously unachievable by other rice varieties. It can be said to have created a "new texture" for Japanese rice.
